Christmas 1986

Dear Family and Friends,

Another prophetic year is nearly completed. Our blessed Savior is fast approaching His Return … not as a Babe but as the exalted King all glorious and victorious!

Christmas is so often viewed and experienced only as a commemorative event filling the heart with nostalgic sentiments. It is much more.

It graphically pictures GOD THE FATHER and His love to a sin-filled doomed world needing to receive His love in the Gift of His Son.

It speaks of REDEMPTION—we who were bound by the power and chains of sin are released and free of debts which were paid to God by the only perfect Lamb, the Son of God.

It declares REGENERATION—a new life in order that we “might serve Him without fear in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.”

It speaks of DELIVERANCE to the Kingdom of God.

It is being filled with JOY for the coming Christ as “good tidings” to the world and especially to all who believe.

WORSHIP is central to the Christmas “event”—from Wise Men to shepherds, from His mother to the priest of the Temple, and from His cousin’s father to the aged saint who served God night and day with fastings and prayer.

On a more personal note, our family has experienced a change in our status here in Baton Rouge. Reuben has been working at Jimmy Swaggart Bible College since April 1984. Since July 1986, he is no longer with the college not having sensed the peace of God in signing the very good contract for the 1986-87 school year. God will make our next ministry assignment.

Carmen is teaching Stephen and Nathan at home (a full-time responsibility and challenge) while Paul and Reuben returned to the Christian school they previously attended. The boys are growing in every regard—physically (Reuben and Paul are taller than Carmen, while Nathan and Stephen have grown accordingly), intellectually (they are all doing well in school), and spiritually. We are ever so thankful to the Lord for His precious gifts of life and love bestowed upon us.

You are loved and appreciated for who you are and the way each of you has touched our lives. If some of you have not written for some time, we would love to hear from you. Be assured of God’s love and care for you all. He still is present in your life to do today what He has done through the history of man. He is faithful! (See I John 1:1-18; Luke 1:68-79; 2:1-40.)
